Exchange Rate and Purchasing Power

Cost of living evolution between two countries is directly linked to exchange rate evolution. Currency depreciation or currency revaluation can strongly affect an expat’s purchasing power.

Since the beginning of this year, the euro has strongly devaluated: it has lost over 16% against the US dollar and has also depreciated against many other currencies.

As a direct consequence, many expats have seen their purchasing power erode accordingly.

Exchange rate variation is not the only factor that generates COL indices fluctuations: notable price increases have been registered in many countries.

To help you cope with those fluctuations, EuroCost International recommends a continuous follow-up of COL indices.
We provide quarterly updates of our indices and you can request an exchange rate update of an index at any time.
Our COL indices can be calculated using the most recent exchange rates.
